The Eskom Expo for Young Scientists science fair is one of the most prestigious events in the science and technology calendar of South Africa among primary, junior secondary and secondary schools. Once a year, the cream of South Africa's young scientists gathers in Pretoria to share ideas and compete for medals and prizes at the Eskom Expo for Young Scientists. Learners initially participate in 27 regional Expos, after which 450 projects are selected to participate in the National Finals, held annually in October. The projects displayed are from 24 categories in the field of science and technology. The award includes prize money to the pupil(s) and the school.
