Kathryn Dudley is Professor of Anthropology and American Studies at Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, USA.

Teaching :
American communities, rural and urban economic dislocation, and the poetics and politics of ethnography.

Research interests

American society, morality, technology, and social change; contemporary theory

Prizes and awards

Recipient of the 2000 Margaret Mead Award, presented annually by the Society for Applied Anthropology and the American Anthropological Association, for anthropological research and writing that reaches a broadly concerned public.


Her published work includes The End of the Line: Lost Jobs, New Lives in Postindustrial America (1994) and Debt and Dispossession: Farm Loss in America's Heartland (2000).
